Would we know Elvis if he was black?

It's interesting to see that in the 1950s black artists were not even able to have their style of music to become a sensation without a white man first introducing it. I wonder if Elvis was black if he would be what we know him as today. When his first song aired on the radio people called in asking about where they can get his music after the radio host made it clear that he was white because he went to a white school. If the DJ jad not made it clear then i feel like that once Elvis made an appearance people would not like his music anymore. It's frustrating to think that a person would only like a certain artist not for their amazing voice, but for the color of their skin. Nowadays i like to think that people admire certain artists for the kind of music they put out their not what they look like. I know for myself i like whatever music that has substance and its sad to see that back in the day that was not the case. Our world probably missed out on a lot of other "Elvis'" because of this race issue.
